Live Illustrated Keynotes in 2020 and 2021
The keynote address is a leading way to get event attendees (live or virtual) into their seats for a day full of conference or event activities! Several clients this year requested that I illustrate for a keynote address. The modalities are broad of course in a pandemic year- live in person on paper, live in person digitally for a virtual audience, live in person analog for a virtual audience, live virtually for a digital audience, and recorded for a virtual audience.
Below are some examples of keynotes that I can share from this past season. Every keynote address is different- some are wide and wandering, others are laser focused on a single topic.

Parks Associates gives the floor over to one of their partners to talk about the state of their own business.

Live Illustration of keynote by Jim Pelley- humorist. Created live on stage with some back and forth banter (they gave me a microphone -brave customer!)

The Association of California School Administrators brought Sal Khan of Khan Academy to their event. I created a timelapse video of this image’s creation.

This keynote address was captured live on-site during a hybrid event and my livestream was broadcast out to the virtual audience, and interspersed by the video capture team as “B roll”- HIGHLY Effective.
Representative Davids acknowledged her love for what she called “Art as you go” that she saw created live during her virtual keynote address. My service was a wonderful and loved surprise!

This was my first return to paper and markers after the long year of virtual life. It was my pleasure to draw for Global Meetings Industry Day in Columbus, OHio for MPI, PCMA and OSAE!

Dr. Rebecca Winthrop of the Brookings Institution was pleased to see the graphic of her keynote come to life virtually during her keynote address.

Colene Rogers addressed the #NOHRC2021 virtual audience and I captured her discussion as a graphic recording. Find the timelapse video here .
