In August I was invited by Julia Zettl of MJM Services, an Association Management Company to record a board meeting for the Cleveland Chapter of the Association of Corporate Growth. I was glad to attend!
This board meeting was the first of a new chapter board president Dale Vernon, and one focused on innovation. I found all of the board members in attendance to be wonderful, funny and curious as to what the new guy with markers was doing in the room.
The stated goal was simple and shared with board members before hand – share what you are doing in your area of the organization, what is new, how you are being innovative, and a metric to measure success.
Before the meeting started, I pulled a phrase hidden under a few organizational excellence sentences… and centered it on the paper . The guiding statement of the organization -“Exceptional Member Experiences” was the first thing I drew after the logo.
Looking back I would have made it more pronounced, but, for LIVE work, you have to do your best and think on your toes!
For this afternoon event I filled two 90″x40″ boards, that were switched out on easels during a break. While my role was to record the meeting notes, I interjected personal sentiments, quotes and statements heard in the room to give it a personal flare.
The final image was combined in Photoshop and delivered to the event coordinator after the project.
If you would like to add a little life to your next board meeting, consider hiring a graphic recorder.
