Nearly every whiteboard across this great nation is covered in sloppy handwriting and disconnected concepts because of the lack of some simple design concepts. This failure to accurately convey one's thoughts is frustrating to the person attempting to make that conveyance, as well as those to those colalborating. Visual Communication and Drawing Workshops from Big Paper Strategy seek to vastly improve America's conference room output with a new found renaissance of consistent and clearly presented conversations.
We're not out to make artists, just good communicators.
Very honestly, I enjoyed the creative and skill aspects of this program, but the most applicable learning was around the opportunity to practice active listening and communicating points to different audiences. - Michelle Nash -past event attendee

Brainstorming & Innovation Sessions
Big Paper Strategy will assist your organization’s input-based brainstorming and strategic development sessions. Starting from Post-It notes and note taking, Big Paper creates repositionable graphics and idea boards based on brainstorming sprints. Big Paper fosters the acceptance and understanding of the ideas in your conference room.
Your team has a vast array of experiences and abilities that can be released as creativity in an ideation session. Big Paper Strategy can multiply the knowledge and acceptance of those ideas through graphic recording- because ideas can grow and get better when everyone in the room understands them. It's as simple as that.
Your leadership, direction and guidance last night turn the brainstorming session was so much more than I ever thought or imagined! - Bruce Lyman
Besides actign as a visual muse (no I'm not pretty, sorry) Big Paper Strategy can also
- Listen to and ingest research and technology briefs
- Discuss the differences between ideation, innovation, creativity and design thinking
- Run exercises that foster ideation
- Set a Design Goal of a MVP (Minimum Valuable Product)
- Run a miniature Fiercest Competitor Design Workshop
- Assist in Paper Prototyping
The event that introduced me to graphic recording was an innovation session. The multi-day event at a Fortune 500 technology company gathered input from around the world, showcased disruptive technologies and ideas from the company’s technical centers and outsiders, and helped define opportunities for the C-level executives gathered in the room. This is where I shine. - Matt Orley
Whiteboard Selling Design Workshop
Sales Whiteboards are predefined drawing concepts that are used with clients INSTEAD of Power Point by sales teams. The utilization of a whiteboard forces salespeople to engage, to fully understand the material, and provides a perfect opportunity to engage with clients right at a whiteboard.

Big Paper Strategy offers a 2-day session to create a design and train your team in the art of whiteboard selling. Day 1, using an iterative process driven by your sales, marketing, and product management team, we strive to create 1 or more whiteboards that your sales team can use. Day 2, We work to create training materials, and create a dry run to train your first level of sales associates to use this board.
The development of a sales whiteboard by a cross-disciplinary team has several process components:
- Gathering of best-practice messaging
- Fusion of messaging into a whiteboard design
- Build up of graphic in tandem with your common script
- Training your team
Why are we different?
Sales whiteboard design firms (there are only a few) start from the very reasonable experience of a sales background. But Big Paper Strategy starts with Graphic Recording, and infusing customer interaction points (blanks for customers to fill in in tandem with the salesperson) as important components of the board.
Once they take the marker and draw on the board themselves, you got 'em.
Common components of a whiteboard template include product features, customer centric benefits, competitive advantages (with a little bit of visual hyperbole) and of course placing the client into the board to see their own position.
Big Paper Strategy's Matt Orley has a career of diverse experiences including product engineering, mural design, sales experience in industrial manufacturing and web marketing- which all align amazingly well with Big Paper Strategy Whiteboard Consulting.
