My name is Matt Orley, and I am a graphic recorder here in Ohio.  I label myself as a live illustrator for events and meetings, and I’ve been in business since 2018.  I live in Peninsula, nestled between Cleveland and Akron near the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

My first graphic recording project was in Canton, Ohio, with Diebold in 2010.  The C-Suite event was arranged by an ideation company talking about the coming wave of mass digitization, and I was brought in to illustrate the discussed topics. I fell in love with the work!

It took me several years to learn that I could turn graphic recording into a full-time career.  But in 2018, the learning struck, and Big Paper Strategy was born.

## Graphic Recording Projects in Ohio

Ohio is of course, home, however, 90+% of my live illustration work takes place beyond state lines- often in warm weather states like Florida, Texas, and Arizona.  But my graphic recording project list here in Ohio is steadily growing, with more on the way.  Below is a list of in-person events here in Ohio that I have supported with art over the last several years:

*   A Siemens Healthineers event at the Cleveland Clinic
*   An Ohio Society of Association Executives annual conference in Athens, Ohio
*   Ohio Lodging and Hotel Association night of stars at the Columbus downtown Hyatt
*   a Global Meetings Industry Day for MPI in Columbus
*   Common Ground Cleveland
*   ESBE Youngstown
*   Shared Hope International JuST Conference at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati, Ohio
*   National Conference of State Legislators at the Sheraton next to the Ohio State House in Columbus
*   Yizumi HPM Die Casting Symposium in Iberia, Ohio
*   a National Denomination church leadership gathering in Cleveland
*   The Ohio State University Design Tour via King M+A
*   Sherwin Williams technical staff strategy deployment event
*   and a good number of Ohio-centric virtual events that took place during the pandemic

As of the summer date of this blog post, several illustration projects are on schedule here in Ohio, including:

*   Digipalooza (the OverDrive user conference) in Cleveland, Ohio
*   FBIN Digital Strategy meeting, right here in Peninsula, Ohio
*   Employee events at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio

### Graphic Recording events in the Ohio border states of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, and Michigan

Illustration work of course reaches out to neighboring states. I have served as a graphic recorder for association events, real estate conferences, legislators, higher education, K-12 tech, and corporate events in nearby states.
